These are some anxiety self help methods that work very well if you are planning on taking on this route. One advantage to this method is that you are exercising full responsibility for yourself which puts positive change and progress directly into your own hands. Ultimately this brings you more self confidence knowing that you are able to find solutions that work best for you when you are faced with difficult challenges in life. If you are the type of person who likes to look for self help solutions, you may find some helpful options here.

Our emotions are very powerful and can take over our thoughts and greatly influence the way we behave. By cultivating emotional intelligence, you are more able to manage strong feelings as they arise. Quickly bounce back from feelings of disappointment and frustrations. And you are more able to find positive and creative solutions to problems that come your way.

Being aware of your emotional state when dealing with challenges will allow you to harness this powerful emotion towards confidence and self-assurance. Mastering your emotions is not about denying your feelings. It is in fact the opposite. You raise your emotional intelligence by engaging your emotions.

When dealing with stress and anxiety, the first step is self awareness – realizing when you are stressed and how you react to it. Knowing your own emotions and how this affects your thoughts and behavior is a key insight needed to manage our emotions in a positive and healthy way. How do you deal with stress? Do you feel agitated, depressed, do you feel paralyzed? Once we have developed a better awareness of ourselves, we need to learn how to reduce your stress levels and function properly under stressful circumstances.

A few quick ways to relax is to practice deep breathing. Breathe down deeply into your lungs which cause your belly to expand and contract (not the chest). Breathe in deeply and slowly and watch you belly expand. Hold for 2 seconds and breathe out twice as long as you’ve inhaled. Use slow, steady and deep breaths when you do this. You can also practice progressive muscle relaxation where you tense and release different muscle parts of your body and as your body begins to relax, so will your mind.

Learning how to take care of ourselves daily will also go a long way to help in reducing anxiety in our daily life. Simple and common advice such as getting enough rest, adopting healthy eating habits, getting enough physical exercise and avoiding excessive alcohol, caffeine, sugar and nicotine consumption will give you an edge when dealing with everyday stress. Don’t put off this common yet sensible advice. Add them to your daily routines to make your lifestyle a stress busting routine.

When excessive worry starts becoming a habit, its time to see if you are having automatic thoughts which are putting you in an anxiety loop. Breaking free requires being aware of this knee jerk reaction and giving it some thought before reacting. It takes will but the payoff is better control of yourself and your habits. And a much more stress free existence.
